APPLICATION NOTES

available to licensed users of the
SRS software upon request.
A demonstration version of the Solder Reliability Solutions software is available upon request.  The demo version lets you
open example analysis files and navigate through the pre- and post-processors of the program. The demo version includes
active component-specific front-end routines for effective stiffness and Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) calculations,
however, the main number cruncher to generate solder joint stress/strain hysteresis loops is inactive. Please send your request
to:
jpclech@aol.com , including "SRS DEMO" as your e-mail header.

WHAT IS SRS? WHAT CAN IT DO FOR ME?
Cyclic thermal stress conditions in surface mount assemblies leads to solder fatigue, a major cause of failure in electronic
assemblies. To help you prevent wear-out failures, the Solder Reliability Solutions (SRS) software estimates solder joint
fatigue life and enables building-in attachment reliability in the design and manufacturing stages of product development.

SRS is a user-friendly, PC-based design-for-reliability tool that enables rapid analysis of the effects of board, component and
thermal load parameters on the attachment reliability of near-eutectic tin-lead assemblies. SRS is the PC implementation of
state-of-the-art thermal stress and life prediction methodologies that capture years of thermal cycling and model development
across the electronics industry. The software covers a wide range of components from leadless LCCCs and discretes to
leaded assemblies (J, gull-wing and S-shaped leads) and several families of BGA and CSP packages. The solder joint life
prediction model implemented in the Solder Reliability Solutions software has been validated by over 60 experiments. Some
users of the software have also validated the model against their own test data.

WHO USES SRS?
SRS was first released in early 1996. The tool was developed for use in real world applications and does not require any
computational skills. SRS is used by quality/reliability conscious corporations in all segments of the electronics industry.
Customers include major packaging companies, contract electronics manufacturers and suppliers of avionics, automotive,
computer, medical, semi-conductor, storage and telecommunication equipment.

FEATURES
Microsoft Windows (TM) environment, interactive data entry.
Pre-processor, analysis (incl. solder creep) and post-processor modules.
Stress/strain plots, damage tables.
Statistical life and reliability predictions...

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
PC running Microsoft Windows 3.1 (TM) or greater, Mac/PowerPC (TM) running Insignia SoftWindows (TM), or any other
compatibe emulator.  4 Mbytes of RAM, 4 Mbytes of available hard disk space. Note: Windows XP Virtual  (XP Virtual Mode
available under Windows 7 Professional) is required to run the SRS software on Windows 7 computers.

PRICE
Current price is for single-user licenses + Shipping/Handling charges + applicable sales tax. Price includes a 30 day
money back guarantee (minus S/H charges), unlimited software support for one year.  Technical support can also be purchased
separately (see
brochure for definition of software and technical support).  Department licenses are available.  The
computational code behind the SRS software can also be licensed under a special corporate-level licensing agreement.

While the software is easy to use and gives quick results, it is not a push-button solution and a lot of attention needs to be paid
to input data and interpretation of the results. In that respect, we recommend purchasing 8 to 16 hours of
technical support
when ordering your license of the SRS software.  See info on technical support and current hourly rate on last page of
brochure.
